What a hellish cool thing you've created... But to make it perfect - next mouse features should be completed, to create the ultimate Wiimote lightgun mode - whish is the thing that Wiimotes are mostly used for.
1. More user-friendly calibration - ability to see the IR points relative to actual screen size. Ideally - ability to make a line-of-sight calibration. That's the thing which is implemented, for example, in custom Touchmote fork by tsoukkis github.com/tsoukkis/Touchmote The best thing that can be done here - a fullscreen calibration window where user can just point and shoot at the aims in screen corners to set the mouse movement bounds.
2. Get rid of "jumping" cursor when one of the IR points goes off-screen - the cursor returns back from the screen edge I was able to fix it at the left edge\point with your calibration, but it still happens no matter what I do on the right. Also, the very good thing here will be an option for sending a button press here for off-screen reloading.
3. Jitter compensation slider is not working - I just can't move in it any way, same as for "when off-screen" changing values in config file have no result.
4. The main holy fxxxking thing. Really, lightgun players community will praise the one who will be able to do this. Ability to treat multiply Wiimotes as separate virtual RawInput ablosute mouses, with different VID's, that can be read easily by, for example, DemulShooter ( if it works in it's testing app, it will work everywhere)
Even as paid feature up to 20-30$ (the next price step in 50$ is the cost of a pair of used EMS TopGuns on ebay, if you're lucky) Really, if you can make Wiimote behave at least close to RawInput guns like Aimtraks (and they have such potential), it WILL cost certain money and people WILL pay for this.
Why I'm speaking for you with this things? You're the only one active dev. And your tools look like the best existing software, lacking only good IR mouse support.
The most used for this, Touchmote, can do almost everything for single player setups. But many people need multiplayer abulity. For now this tool is almost abandoned - its author can't merge calibration code for 2 years, and much more - simple mouse scroll actions binding /facepalm
Though, it has a prettiest smoothing algorithm, and cursor movement abilities at all, and its source code is definitely the thing you should look into speaking of IR mouse implementation.
I so want the IR integration to be good as well as Motion Plus, which is why I put those off to later so I could get the core stuff done first. You can tell the IR support is only half baked. The jitter slider is only there as a placeholder as it was something I was for sure planning to do, it has no functionality. Most of the stuff you've mentioned I had drafted out when I doing my planning. Having a button press occur when off screen, that's a pretty great idea.
The problem is time. Most of my free time only comes from the hour lunch I take at work and unless I get a separate laptop working, I can't actually develop there. Though I can start drafting stuff out on paper.
Hi Justin, I am in the same réflexion like voradori. We need the best software for lightgun games to use with our wiimotes. If you know how much good gun games there are. You will understand the interest we have in this feature. Hope you manage to do it.
